The creation of a personal photographic style realized by the distribution of light was the aim of this bachelor thesis. As an example there is a master of his genre, Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. At the end of the 16th century the painter had created all over his oeuvre his own genre: chiaroscuro, the light-dark painting. With his brilliant colours and the engulfed darkness these paintings show extremes which are to be analysed and studied in order to get a basis for the photographic conversion.
Caravaggios content – often of a Christian origin – should be totally rejected, fashion and portrait photography are the two slogans, which are subject to the formal light-dark.
The thesis, totally bound to chiaroscuro, is presented in two party. The theory which encloses the investigation, analysis and documentation, is shown in volume „Chiaro“. On the other side the practical thesis can be enjoyed in the illustrated book on the slogan „Scuro“.
